Caroline - Chair
'I have served as Chair of Governors for the last 7 years and have been a governor since the school opened and before that on the temporary governing body and at the old Windmill school. My experience in business and marketing helps me to do my best to be a useful critical friend to Granta.'
Paul - Chair of Curriculum Committee
I was elected as Parent Governor in 2010 and am currently Chair of the Curriculum Committee. My daughter was in the 6th Form at Granta, leaving at the end of Summer 2011. I was a teacher for 30 years working in state and independent schools. Most recently I was Head of Kingshott School in Hitchin until my retirement in 2008. I have a high regard for Granta and hope that my experience in the classroom and in management will enable me to make a positive input into the life of the school.
Tony Orgee
As a county councillor, I was involved in the reorganization of special education in Cambidgeshire that led to the building of Granta School. I have been a governor of the school since it opened.
My own background is in education: as a teacher, in teacher education and then educational research. I then worked for a major national and international examination board based in Cambridge for 17 years, including acting as a consultant for British Council funded projects in Russia, before taking early retirement in 2008. Since 2009 I have been involved in educational consultancy for the World Bank, as a member of the CICED Expert Council – the work focussing on developing countries and building up educational expertise in assessment. Over the years my work has taken me to Armenia, Brunei, Lesotho, Russia and Tajikistan.
I value the work of special schools and hope that my background both in education and as a local councillor can help, contribute to and support Granta School.
