Please find attached flyers for our ADHD/ASD Groups running March. Please share with anyone you feel would benefit from coming along.
In Histon 5th March 10-12 we have Peter Dawson from SENDIASS (Special Education Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service) as the speaker. SENDIASS offers impartial and confidential information, advice and support to parents and carers who have a child or young person with special educational needs (SEN) or a disability or have concerns that their child has special educational needs. They also offer impartial and confidential information, advice and support to young people and children with special educational needs (SEN) or a disability or who have concerns they may have special educational needs. SENDIASS can help you with:
- Confidential support and someone to talk to in confidence
- Advice and information about special educational needs
- Independent Support for children, young people and families as Statements are transferred to EHC Plans
- Preparing for meetings with your child’s school or with professionals who are working with your child
- Information on your rights and responsibilities as a parent, children’s rights and SEN law and guidance
- Information about local support groups and voluntary organisations
At Huntingdon 6th March 10-12 Judy Brett from My Autistic Family and Me will be joining us. Judy is a mum with multiple family members who are on the autistic spectrum who runs talks that are easily accessible, fun and that should answer questions and give you hints, tips and ideas that you can try at home to make life easier for you and your loved ones.
In Peterborough 8th March 10-12 we have Marlene Hall - Family worker coming along. Marlene runs the Wisbech ADHD support group: https://www.facebook.com/Wisbech-ADHD-Support-Group-686330428206608/ - come along to get advice, support and tips on how to support your child/young person.
At Ely 9th Feb 12.30-2.30pm we have Dawn Stilwell, Senior Parent Advisor from Contact: https://contact.org.uk/ coming along. Contact offers:
- Free information sessions covering family life and caring for a child with a disability - topics such as SEND reforms, behaviour, sleep, siblings, coping and support, money matters and transition plus other services in your local area and help to find out about what's available locally.
- Guidance for support groups and forums to help them to reach and involve parents
Please note that we are unable to have children at the sessions but we can reimburse your childcare/travel expenses and refreshments are provided.
