About Us

About us

Our pupils and their families together with a forward thinking and motivated staff group make Granta a vibrant place to be. Our pupils and their needs are at the centre of what we do, and we are constantly striving to develop our provision for our learners. Our school is committed to safeguarding our pupils and have robust and comprehensive policies.

Granta has been open since September 2006 and is one of Cambridgeshire’s six area special schools. We enjoy excellent facilities including a purpose built hydrotherapy pool, two light rooms, a gym, three outside learning areas, several specialist teaching rooms including a science lab and food technology and design technology rooms. Our school has a high level of community use, including holiday playschemes and groups using our hydro pool daily.

We plan for our pupils to have a real sense of progression as they move up through the school. This is highlighted by a change in school uniform in secondary, an increased use of our specialist classrooms and an increased focus on work related and community education. Each of our pupils have very individual needs and therefore we personalise their curriculum to suit. For example some of our pupils have a need for a high level of therapy support and a curriculum that is based around a sensory approach, whereas others benefit from a more mainstream style approach coupled with good level of adult support.
