Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award

23rd February 2016

What a wonderful day and such a privilege for myself and Tom to be able to attend the Gold D of E Awards ceremony at St James Palace and see our young people collect their gold awards.

Our young people were fantastic advocates for Granta School , after all their hard work to achieve the award. Along  with a group of other students from Cambridgeshire they were lucky enough to get to meet the Duke of Edinburgh! They also met and shook hands with Heston Blumenthal who presented them with their certificates.  He chatted to our young people about their achievements and spent quite a while exchanging cooking tips with David. (Possible future TV collaboration?!)

Tom and I were marshals and had a great time running and organising the Queen Anne room for 70 plus students and their guests from all over the East of England. The occasion was memorable for everybody concerned and Tom and I were bursting with pride at the way our youngsters handled themselves, not only during the day but throughout their whole D of E experience.
